christmas gingerbread reindeer

It's Christmas time at the nursery and we have been baking some wonderful treats with the children. Here is one of our favourites for you to try at home.

Gingerbread Reindeer

Making gingerbread reindeer is fun for everyone! Decorate and enjoy this wonderful warm treat at Christmas.

Ingredients:
350g Plain Flour
125g Unsalted Butter (or substitute with margarine for a lighter option) 1tsp Bicarbonate of soda
2tsp Ginger
1tsp Cinnamon
175g Light Soft Brown Sugar
4tbsp Golden Syrup
1 Egg
Directions:
Preheat the oven to 180/ 160 fan
Cream butter and brown sugar together with an electric beater, stand mixer or food processor
Add egg yolk and golden syrup and mix till combined
Add flour, ginger and bicarbonate of soda (it will be crumbly)
Place onto baking paper and cover with another piece of baking paper – using a rolling pin, roll out the dough
Cut out the reindeer shapes and put onto greased baking trays with a spatula
Bake for about 8-10 mins
Once baked let cool for 10 mins on the tray then transfer to cooling rack
